Keyless Entry System

Utilizing a technology known as passive entry and go, SmartKeys with Keyless Go can unlock or start your vehicle even if the key isn't in. This is accomplished by a transponder integrated into each SmartKey, which lets the vehicle recognize a driver when it senses the key within close range.

To activate your car, the key sends low-frequency transmissions which are picked up by the antennas inside and outside your door handles. If the transmission matches the ID on the PASE module, (Passive Access and Security Electronics) the system will allow that the key act as a passkey to operate the vehicle.

These systems are designed to withstand "replay attacks," where a hacker could record and replay control signals in order to gain access to an vehicle or building. To stop this from happening, a specially designed algorithm ensures that each transmission sent by the keyfob is distinct from previous ones. This means that if a burglar is able to record one of these transmissions and attempts to reuse it the car's PASE program will be alerted and deny access.
